Weekly Announcements

Apr 14, 2024

Good Evening Fam-Alee! This is Mrs. Emerick, with your week at a glance for the week of April 15, 2024.

The end of the year is getting close! I want to make sure our seniors are aware of a few important things:

May 10th at 12:00 noon all work must be turned in for graduating seniors.

May 17th is Graduation Day! Our ceremony will be held at First Baptist Church Umatilla. Graduates are expected to be at the church that morning at 10:00 for practice and then back at 6:00 pm. The doors open for families and guests at 6:30.

Grads need to be sure they have seen Ms. Hope to order their cap & gown. The cost is $50 and can be paid by cash or check at school or by credit card at our school store which can be accessed on our website.

Grad Parents can order a Yard banner for $25.00. These must be purchased by April 22. These are a great way to show off how proud you are of your grad!

Mrs. Murray will be taking cap & gown pictures at school this week only. If you are not in the cafeteria during breakfast, you must let Mrs. Murray know you are on campus so your picture can be taken.

The next several announcements are for all students, in all grades.

This Thursday, April 18th Jeremiah’s Italian Ice will be on campus. They’re going to set up and we will take a little break, have a sweet treat, and celebrate those students that have completed all of their classes!

The testing season begins on May 1st and runs the entire month of May. We will have the FAST reading test along with EOCs for Algebra, Geometry, Biology, and US History happening everyday in May. It is absolutely vital that students are in school on time everyday so we can make sure they get the credits for the EOC courses they’ve worked hard to complete which rely on these tests. Please watch our Facebook page for the tests we are offered on what days.

Prom is coming up on May 3 and it’s going to be amazing! We have dresses and formal wear that we have been given for anyone that seems to be having difficulties finding just the right outfit. Please get those tickets purchased be this is going to be an especially wonderful evening with amazing food, dancing, laughter, and just an all around great time hanging with your friends. See Mrs. Hemsath for your tickets or purchase them on the school store. Tickets are $45 for 1 or $80 for 2.

Finally, my goal this year has been about exposing our students to all that life has to offer them. We’ve invited lots of different folks to share their careers at our Workforce Wednesday events and taken a tour of Lake Tech, had visits from military recruiters, Full Sail University, and Lake Sumter State College. We also had information shared about Job Corps. We’ve done a lot of learning so we’ve decided to end the year with an EPIC field trip! We’re inviting ALL GRADES, not just our seniors, to go to SEA WORLD on May 10th and 11th . This will be an overnight trip where we will sleep with the sharks! It’s going to be an experience not soon to be forgotten. The kids will make memories that will last a lifetime time. The cost is $125 for each student which includes dinner on Friday, breakfast on Saturday, behind the scenes access in the shark encounter, and a whole day at Sea World on Saturday. We need all money by May 5, 2024. Credit cards are accepted when purchasing on the school store. We have been gifted a couple of scholarships to reward a couple of students…the first, is for 1 ticket AND an all day dining pass, a value of almost $200.00! To recipient will be a student that makes the most gains AND gets a Level 3 or higher to meet their graduation requirement - but it doesnt have to be a senior! The 2nd scholarship recipient will receive a free ticket for the trip, a $125 value and will go to the student making the most gains from their previous PM test to the PM3. The final award is an all day dining pass, a $50 value. The recipient of this award will go to a student that has had the greatest overall academic improvement and will be selected by the staff on a specific set of criteria.

That’s all I have for this week. Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday!
