Weekly Announcements

Apr 07, 2024

Good Evening, Fam-Alee and Happy Sunday! This is Mrs. Emerick with a special announcement for tomorrow, Monday, April 8, 2024.

As many of you know, we will experience a solar eclipse tomorrow between 1:45 and 4:15. Our area will not experience a total eclipse but this can be a really cool learning opportunity for all of us, adults and kids alike and the experts say we won’t experience this again until 2045 .

There are special precautions that we must all take however to avoid potential dangers associated with an eclipse. It is super important to wear proper eye protection when looking at the eclipse. The peak of the eclipse for our area is going to be during dismissal and while the kids are riding the bus and walking home, so somewhere between 2:30 and 3:30 I have decided to release our students after lunch tomorrow so students will be at home during the peak time and when they will most likely be able to see the eclipse. Mr. Clawson, our science teacher, will be teaching the students about the eclipse and other eclipse activities will be happening throughout the campus with special emphasis on the need for wearing protective eye glasses when looking at the eclipse. We ask that you share this information with your child as well so they do not have any injuries to their eyes. As students leave for dismissal tomorrow, we will be handing out ISO protective eyewear to each student to use when they view the eclipse from home. Our buses will begin loading at 12:30 tomorrow, so students should arrive home approximately 2 hours earlier than normal.

Also, we will have a visit from Full Sail University tomorrow morning. Students that are interested in learning more about what Full Sail has to offer them after graduation, will be called down for the presentation.

Mrs. Bob will be taking a small group of students to learn more about Job Corps this Thursday. If there are any students interested in learning more they should see Mrs. Bob tomorrow or Tuesday.

Prom tickets are going fast! They are on sale with Mrs. Hemsath now. The cost is $45 for one or $80 for 2. The deadline to purchase tickets is April 22 and I need to remind students that there are only a certain number of tickets available so if you are planning to attend, you need to get your ticket! Prom is May 3 at a location to be disclosed from 6pm - 10pm . Doors open at 6:00 and close at 6:45. Dinner will begin at 6:45.

Yearbooks are on sale also. Students should see Mrs. Murray if they are interested in purchasing a copy. There are only 50 available.

One additional announcement to our seniors….there will be a short senior meeting with me on Tuesday, April 9th at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will cover graduation information and a special trip we have decided to offer that will give these kids some lasting memories. I will be sending home information packets with all of the information to parents on Tuesday - please ask your graduate for the packet so you have the information.

Thank you for your time and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me, Mrs. Burnett, or Mr. Elmatti. You can find our email addresses on the school website.
