Weekly Announcements

Jan 07, 2024

Good Evening Fam-Alee! This is Mrs. Emerick calling with announcements for the week of January 8, 2024.

I hope this message finds that you are all well and had an enjoyable winter break. It’s hard to believe it is 2024 already and we are 1/2 way through this school year. We have a few months left before graduation and they will go by super fast!

This week we have a special event happening. On Tuesday, January 9th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. we will have a representative from Job Corps on campus to share information about the opportunities provided to Job Corps participants. Many people do not know that Job Corps serves young people ages 16-24 by helping them learn a specific trade and for young people that may not have earned their high school diploma, Job Corps provides a chance to earn a high school diploma while learning a trade as well. This event is open to the public so please share this information with your family, friends, and neighbors.

We will also have the Big Red Bus here for blood donations , beginning at 4:30 p.m . We host a blood drive every 56 days because we believe we are responsible for teaching our students the importance of helping our community with the gift of life. If you are able, please stop by on Tuesday, give a blood donation and then come in for light refreshments, and learn about Job Corps. I hope to see many of you there!

As mentioned, we have only a few short months before this school year will come to a close. Please take note of the following upcoming events:

January 18th: Senior Parent Night - this is an event we hold in the 3rd quarter that gives parents an opportunity to learn all of the information pertaining to graduation. This will include a status update related to their credits, testing and current academic progress for each senior. 11th graders hoping to promote to 12th grade and graduate this year will also be invited. This event will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A special invitation will be sent to parents of all seniors and juniors. Caps & gowns, yearbooks, Grad Bash, and Prom can all be ordered at this event.

January 24th: Select seniors will be invited to tour Lake Technical College. Students interested in learning more about the programs offered at Lake Tech are encouraged to complete the Google Form on their student dashboard. The sign up form will be available on Wednesday, January 10th.

We have started planning our 2024 Prom. More information will be available soon. The one thing that is important to know is that our Prom is open to ALL STUDENTS and students can bring a guest from another school with appropriate documentation.

Seniors will have an opportunity to attend Universal Studios’ annual Grad Bash event. Specific details will be coming from Universal soon. Tickets for this event will be approximately $110.00 each and students can begin putting down their $25.00 deposits now.

Finally, I need to remind everyone that the rules regarding our school dress code will be enforced. Our dress code can be found in the Parent/Student Handbook that all students and parents received upon enrollment. In a nutshell, students are to always be in a uniform t-shirt, short or long sleeve. Hoodies are also no longer permitted, even with tucked in hoods. Hoodless sweatshirts can be purchased at most department stores or an Alee Academy dress code sweatshirt can be purchased at the school. Pants must be solid color denim or dress pants only. Sweatpants, leggings, basketball shorts are not allowed. Students that arrive out of dress code will be offered dress code appropriate clothing if available or they will be given the chance to call for someone to bring clothes.

We want everyone to be in school everyday and working. Far too many students have not reached the expected percentage in Edgenuity. Students are going to fall further and further behind. Parents, please help support your student by explaining the importance of working on their specific courses while they are at school. Our campus is open on Fridays as well for students to come in and work if they need some additional one on one with their teachers.

I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday. Students and staff, I will see you tomorrow!
