Weekly Announcements

Dec 03, 2023

Good Afternoon Fam-Alee,

I hope you all have enjoyed the weekend. I have a lot to share for this week!

I want to begin by first congratulating the students that earned a passing score on the ELA Progress Monitoring Retake test this past week. We are so very proud of each one of you and now, there is no more worrying about meeting that graduation requirement! Great job!!!

We will continue to offer the Progress Monitoring reading retake test every day through December 15th. Any of our students that need this test, please be prepared everyday by getting a good night’s rest, eating a healthy breakfast and getting to school on time. We are also offering EOC retakes for Algebra 1, Geometry, U.S. History, and Biology to any students that have not yet taken those tests and need to, through the end of the winter testing window - December 15th.

Students and staff that experienced Powerhouse are being asked to be available on December 11th to record a short video to share their experience. We will be taking a bus to UHS that morning. We are hoping to bring Powerhouse to Alee students again in the spring so anyone that was interested and wasn’t able to attend the fall session, will have a chance to participate in the Spring.

We have enjoyed the presentations from the U.S. Army , U.S. Navy , and the U.S. Marine Corps for the past 3 Workforce Wednesdays. This week we are excited to welcome recruiters from the U.S. Air Force to finish out the military portion of Workforce Wednesdays for the fall semester. We are hopeful that all branches will return again in the spring.

Parents, this is just a reminder that your student should be at or very close to 50% complete with their Edgenuity courses when we return from the Christmas break on January 4th. Students are encouraged to use their time at school to work on their courses, but if need be, they can also work on their assignments and quizzes from home, but tests and exams must be taken ON CAMPUS. They do not need their school issued chromebooks to work at home. Edgenuity is an internet based program so any internet capable device can be used. If your student needs to use their school issued chromebook, they may request permission from me and if they have been actively working hard while IN school, I am more than willing to allow them to take their chromebooks home - just remember, they must bring them back everyday or they won’t have a device to work on while they are at school. Our campus is also open this Friday morning, 12/8 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. for students to come in for additional help from their teachers, take tests or exams, or simply have a quiet and structured place to work on their courses.

For the first year in our history, Alee Academy will have a booth at the Cracker Christmas Festival in Umatilla on Saturday, December 9th from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m . We will be selling “Snowman Soup” as a fundraiser for this year’s prom. I’d like to invite any student interested to stay after school on Wednesday, December 7th to help put together approximately 200 “Snowman Soup” bags. Any students or parents that are interested in helping at our booth at the festival, please complete the Google Form found on our school website . This festival is a great opportunity to share more about Alee Academy with our community and have some fun doing it!

Looking ahead, the campus will only be open from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. on Friday 12/15. On Monday 12/18, Tuesday 12/19, and Wednesday 12/20 we will dismiss at 1:30 each of these days.

We have been blessed with a plethora of resources to help families this holiday season. If you are in need of support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to either Mrs. Emerick or Mrs. Bob , our school social worker. We would be honored to help your family in any way we can. You can find both of our email addresses on the school website.

As always, I thank you for your continued support of your child and our entire Fam - Alee.

Have a great rest of your Sunday!
