August 5, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back our returning students and welcome all new students to our Alee Academy family. We have been working diligently this summer to prepare for the start of the school year. As part of our efforts to improve the quality of education your student receives here at Alee Academy, we have put into place new safety and security measures in order to ensure that we are doing our very best to protect the health of both our students and staff. Change is necessary in these uncertain times and all change can be seen as an opportunity to learn and grow. We ask for your patience and flexibility as we navigate this new terrain together. Know that central in all decisions we make and continue to make is in the best interest of all of our students and staff. As always, we want to keep all of our families informed and up to date with any changes or new developments. Beginning this school year, Alee Academy will create an Alee Academy email address for each family. This email address will be used to send updates, newsletters, and any important information regarding your student and the school. We hope that by having one family email address for all things Alee related, our ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner will improve.

All new and returning students must complete an updated application packet prior to the start of the school year. If you have not done so already, please fill out the application soon as possible to update your student’s information and select you preference for traditional face to face instructions or the innovative live remote learning option. The electronic application can be found on our website along with the bell schedule and the calendar for the 2020-2021 school year. Please note that our classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 2:12 pm.

No classes will be held on Friday. On Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, teachers will be available to offer additional academic support/tutoring on an individual or virtual basis. Also be sure to check out the current dress code requirements, and the updated health and safety guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to reduce contact time at check in, students will not be permitted to bring back packs, purses, etc. Cell phones will continue to be collected at the door, but no other belongings will be necessary as all supplies, binders, etc. will be kept in the homeroom class. All students will start and end the day in the same classroom to reduce the need for bringing belongings back and forth from home and school. Alee Academy T-Shirts are now on sale for $5.00 each. 2X-5X are $7.00 each. Sweatshirts can be pre-ordered as well for $15. 2X-5X are $18.00.

There have been numerous changes throughout the summer and we are looking forward to having a productive and successful year. The staff of Alee Academy has committed to providing our students the best education possible in light of all the changes necessary in these uncertain times. We hope that our students will also rise to the occasion and give their best both academically and behaviorally this school year. Our goal, as it has always been, is to help those students that need us most in experiencing success both academically and socially. With your help, we truly can accomplish our goal of creating a trusting environment, while challenging our students to fulfill their academic and personal potential.

As a reminder, school starts on Monday, August 24, 2020. All students are expected to arrive to school on time and in dress code everyday whether they are face to face or live remote learning this school year.

Together in Teaching & Learning,

Mrs. Robin Valentino
