Alee Academy Charter High School Parent Notification Policy
In accordance with the 2015 Florida State Statutes section (9) Charter School Requirements subsection (q) as stated:
The charter school principal or the principal’s designee shall immediately notify the parent of a student who is removed from school, school transportation, or a school sponsored activity and taken to a receiving facility for an involuntary examination pursuant to § 394.463. The principal or the principal’s designee may delay notification for no more than 24 hours after the student is removed if the principal or designee deems the delay to be in the student’s best interest and if a report has been submitted to the central abuse hotline, pursuant to § 39.201, based upon knowledge or suspicion of abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Each charter school governing board shall develop a policy and procedures for notification under this paragraph.
Upon removal from school, school transportation, or a school-sponsored activity, a parent or guardian of the student listed on the enrollment application or in the student’s electronic records will be immediately notified via phone by the director, assistant director, or the director’s designee that their student has been taken to a receiving facility for an involuntary examination. Should the custodial parent or legal guardian not be reached, the director, assistant director, or director’s designee will then notify the next adult listed as an emergency contact supplied to the school by the parent or guardian upon the student’s enrollment. The principal or the principal’s designee may delay notification for no more than 24 hours after the student is removed if the principal or designee deems the delay to be in the student’s best interest and if a report has been submitted to the central abuse hotline, pursuant to § 39.201, based upon knowledge or suspicion of abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
