Good Sunday Afternoon Fam-Alee,
The FAST Reading PM 1 testing window is open and all 9th and 10th grade students will be testing this week. 11th and 12th grade students will be given the reading and/or math retake tests over the next couple weeks as well. These tests are VERY important because not only do they provide our teachers with valuable information regarding specific areas we need to target but they can meet the test requirements for graduation. Parents, please encourage your child to get plenty of rest and eat a healthy breakfast so they are at their best!
I have received several calls and emails regarding parent and student access to FOCUS. We are all struggling with the transition from SKYWARD to FOCUS and we’re working with the district to get more information on how to ensure everyone can access their respective accounts. I have enclosed the user guides provided by the district to help and will continue to provide you with any information I receive. I am still entering email addresses for primary contacts into Edgenuity so that all parents who have an email address already in FOCUS will get weekly progress reports directly from Edgenuity.
We had a great start to our Workforce Wednesday program last week. Students were given a lot of information on how to become an entrepreneur and successful business owner. In the coming weeks, we will be welcoming more speakers that will share their occupation and journey to success.
We celebrated students that are moving at a steady pace or have exceeded the expected pace in their courses and our highest readers as indicated on the Achieve diagnostic test. These students all enjoyed an ice cream social and received a uniform pass that allows them to be out of uniform 1 time without consequence. These passes do expire on October 12th so hopefully the students uses them before then!
A select group of students will be taking part in the Powerhouse Project and we are super excited about this opportunity! The first meeting is this Thursday. Parents of those students will receive a letter and email tomorrow with more details.
Student drivers, please remember that a parking pass is required to be displayed on the back driver’s side window of the vehicle. Parking passes are $30. Failure to have a permit may cause the vehicle to be towed at the owners expense.
Parents of bus riders, please take a moment to complete the Bus Transportation Form so we are able to send communication regarding transportation of specific bus routes should the need arise.
Thank you for the continued support of your child’s education. Have a great rest of your Sunday!
Mrs. Emerick
