Good Evening parents, students and staff. This is Mrs. Emerick with our weekly announcements for January 9th.
I have a few announcements to share with you but first, let me wish you a Happy New Year! We started back to school this past week and held a Blood Drive on Thursday . It was a huge success! We were fortunate to have more than 15 students donate and several staff members as well. Helping save lives is definitely a great way to start 2023!
We were also very happy to welcome more than 10 new students to our Fam-Alee this week with several more that will be joining us this coming week. I want to take this opportunity to encourage our students to be in attendance everyday and to come to school with the purpose of learning. We have just a few short months to go and a lot of work to get done.
Mr. Stewart passed out invitations to the Renn Faire in Gainesville . If your student brought home an invitation, please be sure to get that and the permission form sent in as soon as possible. This field trip should be a lot of fun so I am hopeful all those that were invited will attend.
We will hold the first of two senior parent nights on Wednesday, January 18th . Students that are on track for graduation as of Thursday, January 12th will be given an invitation to attend and an RSVP is required.
If your child does not receive an invitation and you believe this is an error, please contact Mrs. Burnett , Mr. Watt , Mrs. Clemence , or myself and we will certainly look into your student’s status. You can reach out to any of us by email. All staff emails are listed on the school website. During senior parent night we will discuss graduation, place orders for caps and gowns and senior pictures.
We have scheduled school pictures for Thursday, January 19th . All students will be photographed for our yearbook. This is also an important event for all of our new students because we need photos so we can issue their student IDs. We will allow students to be out of dress code on this day. However, it is important to note that students are still required to be in compliance with the Lake County Schools dress code requirements, so we ask students to dress appropriately for school.
I also want to mention that many students are arriving to school out of dress code daily. This is not acceptable. All parents and students were given a copy of the handbook, and acknowledged the dress code with their signatures. Our dress code is explained in The Parent and Student Handbook . If you need another copy, please let us know and we will gladly send another copy home. Parents, I am asking for your help to ensure that your student comes to school each day with their Alee Academy t-shirt and proper bottoms. Acceptable bottoms include jeans, khakis, dress pants, denim shorts, and khaki shorts. Leggings, sweatpants, and basketball shorts are NOT part of our dress code. Beginning tomorrow, January 9th, students that are out of dress code will be sent to ISS. Three visits to ISS will result in an out of school suspension. Compliance with our dress code is a very small but important request and we appreciate your help.
In more exciting news, we have scheduled Prom for Friday, April 21st . Tickets will go on sale February 1st. We are very excited we are able to have prom this year and hope that all of our students will be able to attend this event!
January 16th is a non-student day. Our campus will be closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.s birthday .
