Weekly Announcements

Oct 09, 2022

Good Sunday Afternoon Parents, Students, & Staff! This is Mrs. Emerick with our weekly announcements for October 10, 2022.

This week is the beginning of the 2nd grading period already! It’s hard to believe we have already been in school for 9 weeks! The state of Florida has extended the test window for retakes so we will continue to offer the Algebra 1 EOC and the FSA Reading test this week. If students have not taken or completed all sections of these tests, we will pull them for testing this week. Students, please be sure to get good rest and be ready to take your tests!

I wanted to send a big congratulations out to our 9 students of the month . Throughout September, our 8th period teachers provided lessons about ways to be respectful to ourselves, to one another and to our school. Each teacher then chose a student from their 8th period class that demonstrated respectful behavior in school and around the campus. We were excited to celebrate those students by awarding them with a beautiful certificate, a candy bar of their choice, and a coupon for a free Kona Ice! We then celebrated the end of the quarter with all of our students with some outside play time with a Kona Ice to cool off! The kids enjoyed some time to play basketball, football, or sit back and just relax. I encourage you to to see the pictures of the fun . We are looking forward to another fun afternoon next month!

Parents, I invite you to mark your calendars for Thursday, October 20th . Alee Academy will be hosting our 2nd blood drive of the year. The event kicks off at 7:30 a.m. and will run until about 1:00 pm. You can find the link to schedule an appointment to donate on our website . If you are unable to make it, please share our date with your friends and family. Blood donation is a great way to help others in their times of need. October is the month we will be working to better understand the character trait, COURAGE. Being a blood donor is one of the most selfless and courageous acts we can do. We hope you will join us !

We have a couple of field trips being planned right now and we could definitely use some monetary support. Mr. Clawson is working out the details to take our students to visit the Sweetwater Wetlands in Gainesville. This trip is being planned for early November and students will have an opportunity to go if they have passing grades in their classes, have been in attendance regularly, and have not had any major discipline issues. Space is limited to approximately 50 students. The cost for the trip is approximately $25 for each student so if you or someone you know would like to sponsor a student, please visit our school store . Once on the school store site, please select “Sponsor a Student” and you can pay right there. If you would like to pay for a specific student, we ask that you please put the student’s name in the note section, otherwise, any monies collected will be used to help with the cost of the trip and/or any other needs our students may have.

We will also be selecting students from the English and History classes to attend the Renaissance Faire this year. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to explore the time period with activities, foods, art, and so much more. Like the trip to Gainesville, this will also be a Friday field trip so transportation will only be provided to students FROM Alee Academy to the Renaissance Faire. Parents will need to bring their student to the school and pick up from the school when we return. More information for both trips will be coming soon.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of this beautiful Sunday. Students and staff, I will see you tomorrow!
