Weekly Announcements

May 22, 2022

Happy Sunday! Here are the final weekly announcements for the 2022 School Year and I have some really important things to share!

First, let me congratulate all of our 2022 graduates! What an exciting graduation ceremony we had last Wednesday. 40 students walked the stage to receive their diplomas. We awarded over $8,000 in scholarships and 2 life changing job opportunities during the ceremony. Thank you to the local community organizations and businesses that provided these awards and opportunities. Thank you also to Sheriff Grinnell for delivering a very inspirational speech to our graduates. And I can’t begin to tell you how exciting it was to see the amount of support for all of our graduates. The theater was filled to maximum capacity, over 400 people filling the seats and more that stood at the back. The faculty and staff at Alee Academy are very grateful for such an outpouring of support for our graduates. It truly takes a village!

Now for more announcements:

Algebra 1 EOC: Seniors may return to school this week to take the Algebra 1 EOC assessment! This includes seniors that already took the Spring 2022 Algebra 1 Retake EOC. and did not earn a passing score to meet graduation requirements!

ELA Retake: Beginning on Monday, May 23, seniors may take the Grade 10 ELA assessment through May 26. In addition, the Grade 10 Writing makeup window will be extended through May 27 for these students. Again, seniors that need this to meet their graduation requirement, this is one more opportunity!

We hope to see any of the seniors that need either or both of these tests to satisfy the final part of earning their diploma at school tomorrow! An individual email will be sent to all students that need to take advantage of this unprecedented opportunity.

For all of the rest of our students, we will continue to offer the Reading FSA, and EOCs for Biology, US History, Geometry, and Algebra this week.

We will also offer summer EOC testing for any student that has missed their testing for one reason or another. We will contact the student and parent directly to sign up for the testing. The test dates will be July 11-14.

Tomorrow, Monday, May 23rd our buses will operate on the normal school schedule with dismissal at 2:12pm. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week, we will dismiss at 11:45. Our buses will run normally, however dismissal will be at 11:45.

Students that have completed all of their course work and have been signed off by their teachers, must turn in their Chromebooks and chargers, to school by Thursday, May 26th without a financial penalty. Parents, please remember that all students and parents signed a technology agreement and the penalty for not returning technology items in working order will have a penalty of $250.00 for the replacement cost of the Chromebook and charger. Chromebooks will be inventoried and parents will be contacted if your student’s Chromebook is not on campus by 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 26th.

For students planning to attend summer school: Chromebooks will be reissued to you when you arrive on campus June 6th and collected back on June 16th at the end of summer school. Summer school hours are Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Students are expected to be ON CAMPUS for these 8 days to work with teachers. Alee Academy is not able to provide transportation for students attending summer school, therefore, it is the student/parent’s responsibility to and from summer school. Students that are attending summer school must arrive no earlier than 7:45 a.m. to be checked in. Students will not be admitted into summer school after 8:00 a.m. Students must be picked up at 12:00 p.m. and are not permitted to leave before that time. Teachers will sign off on students that complete their assignments prior to the end of summer school which means the student no longer needs to attend. Parents will be notified if or when this is the case. One absence is permitted, however, more than that will remove the student from the summer school opportunity. Arriving after 8:00 a.m. will count as an absence.

Parents, I appreciate all of your support this year and look forward to next year! Thank you again for entrusting us with your child and giving us the chance to help them reach their potential. Applications for next year will be available on our website on or before by July 1, 2022. Current students will need to complete a new application.

Have a great summer everyone!
