Announcements - 1/9/2022

Jan 09, 2022

Monday, 1/10/22 is our Attendance luncheon for December! We are excited to have Sonny’s sponsoring this month’s luncheon. I am sure the students will definitely enjoy it!

Students will be taking their APM test this week. This is the 2nd test of the school year and will be used to monitor student progress. Please encourage your students to get a good night’s sleep and be prepared to do their best! This test is very important and should be taken seriously.

Unfortunately, our phone system is still down. I was hopeful that CenturyLink would have fixed the issue last week like they told me, however, they have not. Our main phone number has been forwarded to another number so if you need to contact the school, please do so by calling the main number 352-357-9426 , or contacting me by email at [email protected] .

I need to take a moment of your time to ask for your help. I relaxed our dress code to allow students to wear their hooded sweatshirts in school with the simple request that they do not wear the hood on their heads. The request doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to me, however, many students have chosen to not comply and the hoods are becoming a problem. Teachers are spending precious instructional time asking for hoods to be removed which then tends to lead into a lengthy discussion. At this time, I will still permit students to wear their hooded sweatshirts, however, they will be asked ONE TIME to remove it from their head. The next time, they will be asked to tuck the hood inside their sweatshirt. If they STILL choose to not comply with this simple request, they will be asked to remove their hooded sweatshirt and will not be permitted to wear it, or any hooded jacket.

We are also seeing an increase in students sneaking their cell phones into the school. Parents, electronic devices are a huge distraction to students and inhibits their learning. Please remind your student that they are to turn their phone into me in the morning. Should they be found in possession of any electronic device, they are in direct violation of the student and parent handbook and there will be consequences. It is extremely important that students do not have electronic devices in their possession during testing as it will invalidate scores for all students in the testing room and potentially the entire school.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please email me. Also, in case of any after hours announcements such as cancellations or delays, please visit our school website or Facebook page. Starting at 6:00 a.m. - 8:30pm I can send call out messages to you. However, after 9:00 p.m. I have to resort to using social media and our website and as we all know, emergencies don’t always happen before 8:30 p.m.

Thank you for your continued support this year.
