Next week, October 4th - October 7th is the last week of the first grading period. Can you believe it? I am excited to see how many students have earned A and A/B honor roll for this quarter! As a reward for all students that have worked hard to finish this grading period, we will be having a KONA ICE day on Thursday, October 7th at 1:00 pm. The cost for a Kona ranges from $3 - $6. I hope our students keep working hard so we can have a KONA DAY once a month!
Our campus will be closed to students on Friday, October 8th as that is a teacher work day. All make up or missing work is due by Thursday!
To recognize all of the students that attended school EVERY DAY in September, we hold our Attendance Incentive Luncheon tomorrow! Students will enjoy an amazing lunch from Tijuana Flats and an ice cream treat from Sunsational Farms. We are really proud of these kiddos for attending every day and look forward to even more students enjoying the luncheon for October!
We will continue administering the Lake Standards assessment in the Math and English classes next week. Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth grade students will also be taking the FSA ELA Retake next week and students that have not yet taken the APM will be given their opportunity to do so next week as well. I know this seems like a lot of testing, however, if all of our students come to school this week, we will get the testing done and back to a more regular schedule. These tests are very important for the teachers because the tests allow them to monitor each student’s progress in Math and English and alter their instructional techniques as necessary. Parents, we appreciate your help in making sure your students are on time to school each day!
I have had some interest from our students to create a new school t-shirt for the 21-22 school year. So….I am inviting all students to enter the School T-shirt design contest! Students will not spend class time on their design. All designing should be on the students’ own time. The deadline for entries will be October 14th. Our staff will choose our favorite top 3 and then our students will vote their top choice. We have ALOT of very talented students so I am excited to see what awesome designs we get. Designs should include our school mascot (The Bald Eagle), our school name (Alee Academy) and 2021-2022. All designs must be original.
Looking ahead at the start of the 2nd 9 weeks (October 11th-October 15th), we are going to have a DRESS DOWN WEEK!!! Students can pay $2 each day to dress down - in school appropriate attire of course! They will receive a wristband that must be worn if they are dressed down or they’ll receive a dress code violation. If students want to dress down ALL WEEK they can pay $5 to dress! This dress down week includes HOODIES! Alee t-shirts are not required BUT students that are not participating in dress down week must be in Alee dress code. Please review the Lake County Student Code of Conduct regarding clothing that is acceptable for dressing down. This is our first chance at dressing down so if we all follow the guidelines, we will do this again!
I’m excited about another amazing week at Alee Academy! Have a great rest of your Sunday!
