Good Evening Parents & Students!

I hope you have enjoyed your weekend. I have some exciting upcoming events to tell you about.

On Tuesday morning, Lake County Schools Superintendent Diane Kornegay and State Representative Jennifer Sullivan will be visiting our school. Rep. Sullivan is anxious to see what Alee Academy is all about and we are excited to show her all of the good things Alee has to offer the students of Lake County. Let’s be sure she feels welcome!

We have been invited by Umatilla High School to participate in their Homecoming Parade this year. We will be decorating one of our buses. We need staff, students, and parents to walk along the parade route handing out candy and brochures about our school. We also need volunteers to carry banners and signs that we will be making this week to show our school spirit. We are very excited about this opportunity and have a lot of work to do. The parade is on Thursday, September 26th. Students wishing to volunteer to join us for the parade will need to be at Alee at 4:15pm on Thursday. Session 1 students can stay after school and ride the bus home at the end of the parade. Session 2 students will be riding the bus or can choose to walk with the bus. Parent permission forms will be sent home on Tuesday and must be returned to me on Thursday. Students without the permission form turned in will not be allowed to participate.

Next Monday, 9-30, we are excited to dress in camo from head to toe! Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite camouflage to welcome the fall season! Please remember that your outfit must still be in compliance with LCS dress code. Hoodies are allowed to be worn but hoods must not be worn when in the building.

Thursday 10-3 and Friday 10-4 we will be having Field Day during the last hour of each day. Session 2 students will participate on Thursday while Session 1 students will have their Field Day on Friday. We hope this field day serves as a reminder that being active is good for both the body and the mind. We are all looking forward to having some fun!

Bring your best smile on October 8th for fall pictures! Mrs. Jenkins’ journalism students will be creating this year’s yearbook and we want to capture as many faces of our Fam-Alee as possible so ALL students will be photographed that day. We want everyone to “Dress your Best” that day. As always, when we permit a dress down day, all clothing must still be in compliance with LCS dress code.

Have a wonderful rest of your evening and we will see you tomorrow!
