In this school wide initiative focusing on health through hydration, our students will study the human body’s water intake requirements and the benefits of staying hydrated. In addition, we want to be conscience of protecting the environment on this journey too!

We have many COVID protocols to observe, one is a huge obstacle when considering this project! Drinking from a water fountain is considered unsafe during this time. Our students have to fill a tiny paper Dixie cup to get a drink. The perfect way to address these needs and add to the excitement of this school wide project will be the installation of a water bottle refill station in our school.

Due to Covid protocols, students have not been able to drink from the water fountain in our school since 2019. The water bottle refill station has an onboard tally system that will show how many 20 ounce bottles of water are being consumed as students “fill up!” This count will also be used to highlight how many disposable water bottles we are keeping out of our local landfill by using our refilling station to stay hydrated instead of using bottled water.
