As a tuition-free public charter high school serving students ages 14–20, Alee Academy provides a supportive environment where students can recover credits, stay on track for graduation and build a brighter future.

Weekly Announcements / Solar Eclipse

As many of you know, we will experience a solar eclipse tomorrow between 1:45 and 4:15. Our area will not experience a total eclipse but this can be a really cool learning opportunity for all of us, adults and kids alike and the experts say we won’t experience this again until 2045.

There are special precautions that we must all take however to avoid potential dangers associated with an eclipse. It is super important to wear proper eye protection when looking at the eclipse. The peak of the eclipse for our area is going to be during dismissal and while the kids are riding the bus and walking home, so somewhere between 2:30 and 3:30 I have decided to release our students after lunch tomorrow so students will be at home during the peak time and when they will most likely be able to see the eclipse. Mr. Clawson, our science teacher, will be teaching the students about the eclipse and other eclipse activities will be happening throughout the campus with special emphasis on the need for wearing protective eye glasses when looking at the eclipse. We ask that you share this information with your child as well so they do not have any injuries to their eyes. As students leave for dismissal tomorrow, we will be handing out ISO protective eyewear to each student to use when they view the eclipse from home. Our buses will begin loading at 12:30 tomorrow, so students should arrive home approximately 2 hours earlier than normal.

Our School Store is now officially live now!

Please be advised that the School Store is the only method that parents and students will use to purchase items that are needed for school after September 1, 2022.

Student Supplies List for 2022-2023

Student Bundle (Grades 9 -11) $55.00

Includes binder, student planner, 4 school shirts, and rental fee for a Chromebook charger.
All items can be purchased separately through the school store, however the only item that is NOT required is the charger. Students will not be given a charger for at home use unless the rental fee is purchased.

Student Bundle (Grades 12) $210.00

Includes binder, student planner, 4 uniform t-shirts, 2023 yearbook, 1 student ticket to Grad Bash, cap & gown take, and a home Chromebook charger rental
All items can be purchased separately through the school store. Students will not be given a charger for at home use unless the rental fee is purchased.

Uniform Shirts

All Alee Academy students are required to wear an Alee Academy uniform shirt every day. The cost for t-shirts has gone up slightly. The new prices for shirts are listed on the school store.

Highlighters
1 pack of copy paper (given to 1st period teacher)
Ear buds/headphones

Classroom teachers may have additional supplies required for their classes.

Hope Scholarship

Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, a student enrolled in a Florida public school in kindergarten through grade 12 who has been subjected to an incident of battery; harassment; hazing; bullying; kidnapping; physical attack; robbery; sexual offenses, harassment, assault, or battery; threat or intimidation; or fighting at school the opportunity to transfer to another public school with capacity or enroll in an approved private school under the Hope Scholarship.

The law provides for eligible sales tax contributions from the purchase of a motor vehicle to eligible nonprofit scholarship funding organizations (SFOs). Contingent upon available funds, the SFOs then award the scholarships to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis.

Update on Coach Davis

To Parents, Guardians, Community Partners, and Students:

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that one of our teachers, Coach Davis, became very ill before Thanksgiving break. His illness was much more serious than first thought and he passed away this past Saturday. We have made grief counselors available for our students and staff as we all work through the grieving process and begin to heal our hearts. While we are all devastated, we know that Coach would want us to carry on as normal.

Eclipse Monday August 21, 2017

Monday, Aug. 21, will be the first time in 99 years that a total solar eclipse will cross the nation coast-to-coast. The moon will pass between the sun and Earth, fully or partially blocking the sun, making it look like early evening in the middle of the day. In Florida, the solar eclipse will be at about 85 percent totality, which means the moon will almost completely cover the sun. Some scientists have said this won’t happen again in Florida until 2045! People of all ages around the country are making plans to experience this rare event.
